 Welcome to Our Visitors

Salem Harbor is a beautiful and historic port. In the 18th century, trade ships to China and and the West Indies set sail from our shores (as reflected in our city motto, "to the farthest port of the rich East"). Salem is home to treasures such as the Peabody Essex Museum, the Salem Maritime National Historic Site, and the replica ships Friendship and Fame. Summer brings yacht races (including our own PHRF Bowditch Race on August 9,, 2008), the Salem Maritime Festival - and, on July 4th we enjoy a 3-dimensional show of fireworks in our harbor from several neighboring cities (Marblehead, Beverly, and Manchester). Oh, and the fishing is pretty good, too. Visit Salem for a day trip or more ... but please note that Salem Harbor has limited public docks.

PCYC, a private yacht club, is a member of Mass Bay (MBYCA) and welcomes guests of reciprocal yacht clubs. Please call our Dockmaster, Keith Nadeau, on the Club phone 978-744-9722 to make reservations to stay with us.

 Fuel

PCYC does NOT sell fuel. The closest gasoline & diesel pumps are located in Beverly Harbor at Jubilee Yacht Club or Beverly Port Marine, or in Marblehead at the Landing. No refueling of boats is permitted in the Club marina.

 Club and Local Amenities

Most PCYC slips have electrical and water hook ups. Power on the floats is 30 amps and requires marine grade connectors. Waste removal service is available from the Port of Salem (VHF Channel 09.rd SALEM PUMP OUT).

The clubhouse has 2 shower rooms with electrical outlets. There is an ice machine on premises. Our bar/lounge has a limited lunch and dinner menu, and several restaurants and take-out or delivery eateries are close by. A laundry mat is within close walking distance to the club, as is a small grocery store. The club is within walking distance to most local tourist attractions, and taxi cab service is available. MBTA trains and bus service (to Boston) are located in downtown Salem (about a 20 minute walk). Salem ferry service to Boston starts on 6/1/06.

Sea dogs are welcome visitors at the Club. Leash laws & clean-up courtesy rules apply. There is a park very close to the Club for a good stretch for cramped paws.

 Safety Policies

  • Boats operating within the facility must leave no wake.
  • No boats shall have projections hanging over the floats.
  • Check with dockmaster for rules re: barbecue fires on boats in the marina.
  • Swimming permitted in designated areas only.
  • All children 12 years old or younger must wear a life jacket on the floats.
  • No refueling of boats, including dinghies & tenders, is allowed within the marina facility.
  • NOTE: Defibrillator and first aid equipment is located in the Club Lounge.
